Chairman & Managing Director - Shri Pravin Kumar Purwar

Shri Pravin Kumar Purwar, a 1990 batch officer of Indian Postal & Telegraph Accounts & Finance Services has taken over the charge of Chairman and Managing Director Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited in the month of July, 2019. Before this, he was heading MTNL as CMD MTNL for three years from June, 2016. Prior to becoming CMD MTNL, Mr Purwar was Director (Finance), MTNLfor three years. At present, he is also looking after the works of CMD, MTNL and CMD, BBNL. He holds a Master’s degree in Commerce from Allahabad University and he is also a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has an illustrious career spanning over three decades in Telecommunication Sector.

Sh. P K Purwar has got the opportunity to work both in the Government sector and in the Industry. He is well versed with the dynamics of telecom industry, from business as well regulatory point of view. He has played an important role in resolution of various pension, AGR and taxation related issues in the sector. As Advisor, in Competition Commission of India (CCI), Shri P K Purwar has got significant experience in mergers and acquisitions / amalgamation.

He has been speaker in various International Forums such as ICN Merger Working Group, American Bar Association Competition Law Conference etc.

A soft spoken, straight forward and a person of high integrity, Sh. P K Purwar is known for not only his technical competence, analytical skills but also for his pursuance and cordial relations with everyone in the industry. He has launched a series of initiatives for growth of BSNL and brings about cultural changes in BSNL necessary for the competitive environment. As CMD BSNL, he is moving forward for turnaround of BSNL and making it a strategic, vibrant and dynamic organisation.
